How to Build the Workbench, Oven, Cooking Pot and Other Stations

Updated · Cooking & Crafting

Quick answer

Build the Workbench from 3 Wood Plank + 2 Iron Rod + 1 Leather. Pots, the Rotisserie and the Infuser only cook when placed on a lit Campfire (2 Sticks + 1 Rock) — add wood or coal to light it.

Lighting a campfire

  1. Place a Campfire (or use one at the pre-built camps in the dungeon).
  2. Add fuel: Sticks, Wood Planks, Bones, Coal or rotten food. Up to 5 pieces, each burning about 4 minutes.
  3. Put the Cooking Pot, Rotisserie or Infuser on top — it only cooks while the fire is burning.
  4. Overcooked food turns into Coal, which you can reuse as fuel.

The developers said on Oct 19 that a patch is coming within days; cooking rules may change. We’ll recheck after it lands.

FAQ

Where is the Workbench?

In the full release there's no ready-made Workbench for you — craft it from 3 Wood Plank, 2 Iron Rod and 1 Leather. (The demo had one placed in the dungeon.)

How do I light the cooking pot?

Put the Cooking Pot on a Campfire, then add fuel — Sticks, Wood Planks, Bones, Coal or rotten food. The prompt says "Bring Wood to light". Each fuel lasts roughly 4 minutes, up to 5 at a time.

Why is the Cooking Table recipe missing?

It unlocks after you pick up Wild Corn.
